How does MVHR Work?
MVHR is a whole house ventilation system that extracts stale, polluted air and excess moisture out of a home, whilst bringing in air from outside. It helps keep your home comfortable, free from mould and condensation and is very energy efficient - helping reduce your heating bills by recovering and reusing heat. The system consists of a unit and a network of ducting that runs to every room in the house.
Humid and moisture ladden air is continuously extracted from wet rooms (kitchen/utility/bathrooms) - as this air is extracted, the heat is transfered into a heat exchanger inside the unit. At the same time, supply air is continuously brought in from outside, passing through the heat exchanger and filters before it reaches your living areas to ensure a good level of indoor air quality and comfort.
All units have a 'Summer Bypass' mode that knows when the temperature outside is heating up and stops the heat recovery process, leaving the system supplying just fresher, filtered air which offers a cooling effect from the continuous airflow in the warmer summer months.
