What Is NOx?
Indoor Air Quality & Filtration
We spend 70% of our time indoors and we know the quality of the air we breathe has a direct impact on our health and well-being. With new homes increasingly situated in urban areas, the impact of poor outdoor air quality can be a concern indoors, especially with ventilation systems that are bringing in air from outside, and where windows are being used.
Toxic NOx gases are formed from the combustion of fossil fuels – in London alone, up to half of the NOx emissions are caused by road transport – so, if your home is near a busy road, it is likely that some of these gases are making their way inside your home.
In brand new homes, planning conditions and Building Regulations may dictate the grade of filtration required for a MVHR system, however in existing homes or where existing systems have been installed, you may wish to consider increasing filtration to improve indoor air quality.
